Are there any plans to add Heart Rate data to the software. I'm not talking about uploading data from a device. I am talking about some where to record avg/max Heart Rate for a workout? Maybe a category to record the time spent in various zone. This would help me to understant the intensities of each workout and determine if I am performing at the right level or not. Or just to be able to see how I am improving over time with my training.

Just some toughts,
Brian

Hi Brian,

I can see a place for this type of info in the "Performance Measures" section of the log*. It would be fair to have an average HR (or maximum HR) value recorded for meaningful "Time Trial" efforts "within a workout".

At this stage, we don't have an intention to create a field to record average and maximum heart rates for all workouts.
Although many heart rate monitors provide this "data" at the end of a workout, those figures on their own, really don't tell you much. ie: An interval run workout with hard efforts and recoveries included may have the same average heart rate value as an endurance run in which you maintained a steady heart rate the whole way. I understand you may not necessarily compare those two workouts in terms of AVHR & MHR, but that's the point - more info is required, which would be typed into the notes section of the workout. To my way of thinking, this would be the appropriate place to record your HR data, if you thought it was worth noting.

Back to a comment you made about "understanding the intensities and determining if you are performing at the right level or not": It's best to think about this before the workout - You have a workout structure planned and you have control over your own intensity. You should know how much time you are going to spend in a given zone before you start. If you execute your workout plan as it is intended, then you can take great confidence in that you are performing at the right level and as you continue this throughout with your progressive program, you will improve over time.

As to actually gauging your improvement, you can have performance testing done - in a controlled environment - to have an accurate measure of improvement. A bike Lactate test would provide you with a measure of work (power) at a significant level of workout intensity (lactate threshold).

Hope this helps, CoachKev.

*The "Performance Measure" is a log feature of our soon-to-be released upgraded system, currently on 'beta'. All Current users will be updated in the not to distant future.
